Single Gantry

  • Used as a single gantry with nothing behind the plate except for a bolted n C-Beam when acting as a Y gantry

  • Can be used as shown below

  1. Single gantry with Y 'arm' bolted to the gantry.

  2. Back to Back 'twin' gantry as shown on the X axis, extra spacers and bolts are needed for this but the build principle is the same

Hardware parts (from left to right)

  1. 6 of M8 x 40mm bolts

  2. 18 of 0.5mm shim (3 to each wheel set)

  3. 6 of 2mm shim

  4. 9 of M8 x 6.75mm spacer

  5. 3 of Eccentric Spacer

  6. 12 of Flanged Bearing

  7. 6 of M8 Nut

  8. 6 of Polyurethane Wheel

Note the larger holes shown will accommodate M8 bolts & the eccentric spacers, the eccenric spacers are designed to fit into the hole with a push fit.

The smaller holes on the opposite side hold the M8 bolts only

Place 6 bolts into the main holes on the plate, then place the full set onto a flat surface as shown, with the bolts ready to accept the hardware

Note the larger holes are to the top of the plate shown here

Place the eccentric spacers with the larger round section facing towards the holes, 3 of.

Slightly press and rotate the spacers so they 'fit' into the hole.

Place one standard spacers onto the eccentric spacers

Then place 2 standard spacers onto the other wheel sets

Place one standard spacer on top of each of the eccentric spacers

Then place 2 standard spacers onto the other wheel sets

Place one 0.5mm SHIM onto each of the wheel sets

Place one Flanged bearing on each wheel set as shown (flange side down)

NOTE: It is possible to insert the flange, 2 of shims and other flange into the wheel to make this section easier, read from step 7 to step 10

Place one 0.5mm shim on each wheel set as shown

Place one wheel onto the flange as shown, try and push the wheel onto the flange, that makes it easier later

Place the other Flanged bearing onto the bolt and if possible push into the wheel

Sometimes it is not possible to push the flanges in by hand so a spare (6.75mm spacer) is included with the kit, this spacer can be placed on top of the flange as shown lower right, then a rubber mallet or something similar can be used to gently hammer the flanges into the wheels sets

Once the wheel sets are in position place the final 0.5mm SHIM onto each of the wheel sets.

Screw the M8 nuts into place, hand tight.

Eccentrics

The Eccentric spacers will not be fully in place yet (unless you did this earlier) as shown on the left.

So what we need to do now is get those spacers pushed into the holes, gently so we don't break anything.
